Luke was diagnosed with Hypoplast Left Heart Syndrom 24 hours after birth.  Basicly this means that Luke has only half a heart.  His first 6 weeks of life were spent in the hospital.  Within a week of life he had open heart surgery.  Every day was a struggle for life.  Luke still has 2 more open heart surgeries and an eventual heart transplant in his future.  Right now he is home and doing well.  

The Whiting friend sent Luke a Ryan's Lion.  Mom was far from home at the Primary Children's Hospital in SLC, Utah.  She appreciated the thoughtful gift and love it portrayed.  The 4 siblings at home love the blue lion and often put it beside baby Luke.  It will help bring courage through the difficult times ahead.
